5am Carter came up because his knees were hurting. I rubbed knees then sent him back to bed.
7am Ethan wakes up; requires no action
7:30 am Tanner comes into our bedroom excited because the birthday card he made the day before for himself is dry now. He says he wants to read a book with me and drink juice.
-Read Tanner 5 books including The Snowy Day in which he asks where Peter's family is at (I also often wonder that in books that I read about itty bitty kids going on adventures)
-Read Carter a library book about Johnny Appleseed.
-Tanner and Carter get in a fight because Tanner doesn't want me to read to Carter. Their yelling wakes up Dad, which distracts Tanner, and the fight ends.
-Ethan showers, and I give him "crazy hair" for Crazy Hair Day at school, and he leaves for bus stop.
-Read another book to Tanner
8:00 am Ethan calls on the walkie-talkie asking if he has to walk or run to the bus stop.
-Make Oatmeal for everyone; I eat yogurt and cereal because I didn't make enough
-Call Auto Repair shop and set up appointment for a way overdue oil change and tire rotation for my car
-Kiss Husband Goodbye
-Check email
-I shower; when I get out, the younger two are using about 10 feet of wrapping paper to wrap up about 8 toys in one package.
-Call friend to see if they want to go to the beach with us. She can't bc of sick kids. Grab sweatshirts because the fog is rolling in.
-Drive car to the shop. Walk from there to Dollar Tree to buy posterboard, plackers, and toy ball shooters. Random guy tells me to be careful with my kids because there is a Child Protection Services conspiracy. And that I should google it to find out. He says he knows, he's on his way right now to go pick up his little girl. After saying "okay," I quickly gather me kids, and go check out.
-Walk home, with a stop to kiss scraped knees and talk to our eye doctor and her daughter who we run into.
-Test out guns, apply band aids, check craigslist for rentals in Monterey area.
-Walk to beach with the following events on the way:
stopping at the post office to mail some cards
stick our heads through the painted plywood with holes in it to look like a mermaid and sea horse
look at the crabs at the fish market, and sit in the giant clam shell
look at the otters sleeping in the harbor
Carter throws grass seeds at my sweatshirt so they stick
Stop for about 15 minutes to watch the fishermen load fish off the boat into crates with ice and onto a truck
Say hello to the city councilwoman who walks by
Watch the coast guard guys cleaning their boat
Watch the roosting egrets in the Eucalyptus trees. Imitate the birds funny sounds
Finish eating all the wheat thins. When Tanner asks for more, we pretend to eat them out of each others bellies
-We make it to the beach! I sit on the warm sand in the fog. Boys dip their feet in, dig holes, run down the beach. Tanner shows me "the biggest rock in the world" which was about 8 inches long (and in sight of what I really think of as the biggest rock in the world).
-Walk back to the car shop with the following events on the way:
Read Dad's name off of the plaque at the start of the Harbor Walk
Say hello to Dad's old boss who was jogging by on his lunch break
Stop and buy some local sourdough bread at the fish market because boys are hungry
-Get car. Find out we need new shocks and struts and an alignment. And it will cost $1800 to replace (Eek! Dylan saved us over half of that by doing half of the repair with the boys in our driveway this weekday. Phew!).
-Almost left without my sunglasses. Luckily, I left my keys there too.
1:30pm - Warm up left over Parmesan crusted chicken and broccoli from last night. Boys take a bath, so I eat in the bathroom. They make "arf arf" sounds because they are hungry seals in the water. I feed carrots when barked at.
-Boys run around naked shooting nerf guns.
-Work on agenda for primary presidency meeting until Tanner pushes too many keys on the keyboard to make it worth it. So, read some books instead. More fighting about what books I read.
-Play the trash truck game, where I am a trash truck and pick up Tanner with my lifting arm onto my lap and then drive around pretending to pick up stinky or silly things that I dump on his head and then drop off at the landfill.
-Finish agenda.
-Carter cleans up room so they can watch Martha Speaks and Wild Kratts
-I clean up, unload dishwasher, fold laundry.
-Pick up Ethan from his afterschool Lego Engineering class.
-Make scissors out of the seeds on Cheeseweed plants in the front of our house. More seeds thrown at my sweater to stick.
-Carter and Ethan draw a knight scene on the posterboard.
-Tanner cooks food for me in the sandbox, while I cook some popcorn on the stove.
-Clean some playdough off of Tanner's shoe.
5:00pm Go to church for Presidency Meeting while friend/counselor's husband watches my kids and their kids in the nursery.
6pm - Dylan joins us for Ethan's Blue and Gold Dinner, which is for the cub scouts to get badges and such for things they have worked on during the year.
8pm - Put kids to bed: Brush teeth, read books, give water with ice, read scriptures, feed Orange Vader (the fish).
-Look at the houses that are for sale in Monterey with Dylan. Decide not to go to Monterey the next day.
-Go to Albertsons to pick up a redbox movie and treats.
-Watch "Hitchcock" with Dylan
-Talk with husband
11:45pm - Sleep
There you are! That is my life! Here are some pictures from various other times.
Ethan's temple he decided to build during Conference
Tanner got hold of the bag of papers I had just shredded. It was a huge mess, but did look really fun.

In other news, we don't have a place to live yet. I put in an application on Friday at a place I loved, but someone else already had an application in and I haven't heard back, so I don't think it is going to happen. It was the first place that had everything that we wanted and was right where we want to be. So, even if we don't get it, it is encouraging that we will find one to be excited about.
Dylan's project has not officially started yet. He is spending about two days a week up there. There are a few delays from the original project schedule, so it looks like we won't move at least until after going to Utah the middle of June. And there are a few contractual things that need to be in place that are almost in place, but not quite because Dylan has been so swamped at work he hasn't finished working on them until this week. And we shouldn't commit to a place until that is all taken care of anyway. So, even though I have been stressed out by the uncertainty of when and where we will land, I am glad the project has been delayed some because I was not sure how we were going to fit everything in before going to Utah, and had it started on time, we would be seeing even less of Dylan than we are now.
